Kick-off Meeting in Berlin

From the 13th to the 15th of May we organised the DiverCity Kick-off meeting in Berlin, where we discussed the first steps towards the full implementation of the project and got to meet the partners in person.

The first day was the informal opening: the introduction of the project and its activities. Since the were some activities going on with young people where we hosted the KoM, we invited them to participate and bring their insight, helping us to set a solid and realistic foundation for the project. The questions of safety, discrimination, gender (in)equality, sustainable mobility as a tool for women empowerment and independence, and female representation (from the number of women involved in policy making to the representation in symbolic elements).

On the following day (14th) we got our hands on the project and each partner was responsible for introducing different parts of the project.

ESTEL introduced the strutucture of the project, which is made out of two main stages: Action and Reaction.

To do it successfully, it is imperative to create a safe space for dialogue, which will open progressively. From only women and gender non-conforming people, to family, friends, and to the general public.

Each organization will engage a different collective:

  • ESTEL: young women in rural areas
  • URBANA: young women in urban areas
  • CGE: young women with migrant background
  • URBAN FOXES: teenage girls

The upcoming Training for Trainers and the Local Participatory Actions were also discussed during the KoM in order to build a first conceptual draft for each of them, collect content and ideas, and also brainstorm on how the partners can collaborate with each other to make these activities interesting and fullfilling experiences for the future participants.

CGE presented the communication and dissemination plans and guidelines used for this project, as well as the logo and graphic line. Collectively, the consortium worked on the social media action plan through brainstorming sessions about how to successfully reach the project's target group, proposing different communication and marketing ideas.

The partner URBANA presented the evalution plan for the project and its activities, and the template for evaluation according to the indicators and evidences that need to be collected by the partners. In the KoM the first steps towards building the DiverCity toolbox were discussed as well. Each organisation is responsible for creating four tools for the tool box.

Lastly, the partners discussed the project diagram and the phases and tasks for the next few months.

On the last day (15th) the partners took the time to get to know the city of Berlin, enjoy a city filled with history and art, and reflect on how accessible and safe it is for young people, especially women.
